Oak Bluffs—or ‘OB’—is a classic beach town, filled with fun, music, and arcades. In summer, throngs of tourists come to enjoy the water, events, and casual atmosphere of Oak Bluffs. You have instant access to the beaches directly from the bars and shops along Circuit Avenue, and you can enjoy the views from the spacious park up on the bluff overlooking the water. Oak Bluffs has a long and rich history. Among notable early summer visitors were members of the Black community, who created one of the first Black-oriented resort areas in the country. It is also the home for the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association, an historically significant collection of colorful cottages and the Tabernacle, where many public events take place. Oak Bluffs has four of the Island's most significant public institutions: the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School, Community Services, the YMCA (with the Island’s only public pool), and the Martha's Vineyard Hospital, part of the Massachusetts Brigham system. It is also a seasonal port for the ferries that run between the Island and Cape Cod.
